Opening an account is easy. Simply visit one of our 14 branch locations with your driver's license and GFCU will verify your eligibility for membership. Can't get to a branch, then contact our e-branch 770-493-4328 or apply online.

To establish your membership with GFCU, simply open a share savings account. This account makes you a shareholder and an owner in GFCU. To open your share savings account, complete a membership signature card and make an opening deposit of at least $30. ($25 opens your account and $5 is a one-time membership fee.) There is no service charge on your account as long as you maintain the minimum balance of $25.

There are several ways to qualify for membership:

  • Work for one of our eligible member group companies, including selected school systems.
  • Faculty, staff, students and alumni of The University of Georgia.
  • Members and employees of any parish of the Archdiocese of Atlanta
  • Immediate family member of a GFCU member or an eligible non-member. Immediate family includes: spouse, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren and siblings (step and adopted are also included). Once you join, you can extend family membership to your immediate family too!
  • Persons living, working, attending school, or worshipping in Laurens County, Georgia.
  • Persons living, working, attending school, or worshipping in Clarke County, Georgia.
  • Persons living, working, attending school, or worshipping in Norcross, Georgia
  • Persons living, working, attending school, or worshipping in Cumming, Georgia
  • Spouses of persons who died while within our field of membership.
  • Persons retired from any of our member group companies .
  • Persons residing in the same household of a GFCU member or an eligible non-member.
  • Volunteers of any school, church, parish, hospital or association within GFCU’s field of membership.
  • Foreign contracted employees of Select Employee Group County Board of Educations.
